Ness 1

This picture is of Ness, a yearling Connemara filly, taken not long after her first birthday. Nessie's full name is Ellathwaite Lionness, named after the England women's national football team who became the European champions not long after Nessie was born. Nessie is by the stallion Glencarrig Patrick and out of the mare Glenwoodstud Rosella. She is an unusual mix of confident and nervous; she is independent and seems to handle stressful situations very maturely for a one year old. At the same time, she is unsure of how she feels about people, as if she can't quite decide whether she can trust us. We are working on helping her with that, but being stubborn as well as independent it is a slow process and it is all on Nessie's own terms!
